The new standard API SL is more stringent than API SJ in terms of ageing resistance (average drain interval increased), requires anti-oxydation properties that maintain a constant viscosity avoiding sluge and deposits in the crankcase, anti-wear properties and dispersent power .Detergent, dispersive agents and anti-oxidation additivation are particularly reinforced to ensure longer drain intervals, required by manufacturers for the new model of cars.
