Showoff History

It's already been 10 years since Showoff Imports started it's business. On this page you can find a summary of our history.
1999:
Current owner Ronald was looking for all kinds of products to turn his own Honda Civic into a real showcar. At that moment suppliers for aftermarket parts were hard to find in the Netherlands/Europe.

That's why the first shipment from the US happened, overthere the tuningmarket for japanese cars was already booming. While actually ment for personal use soon many items were sold to friends and other clubmembers.

2000:
From fellow tuners and other hondafans Ronald got an increasing amount of requests to import some products from the US for them. The knowledge relating to the import business grew, as did the number of contacts in the US.

This was the moment it was decided to pay a visit to the chamber of commerce and a bit later Showoff Imports was official, mainly focussing on Honda products. Sales were mostly made over the internet.

2001:
In this year the switch was made to specialising on all japanese cars. The main reason for this was the sucess of the blockbuster movie 'The Fast and the Furious'. Japanese cars became the hottest thing overnight and demand for tuningproducts exploded.

The dutch importscene was born. Showoff Imports became distributor for Streetglow neon products. The number of sales made over the internet kept growing, both for products in general and tuningproducts. Showoff Imports started the first online shop for japanese carparts.

2002/2003:
By now each month new shipments came in from the United States, by boat as well as by air. The productrange expanded, at first only for Honda parts and carneonproducts but increasingly for all japanese cars.

The release of a second Fast and Furious movie boosted the number of carsfreaks again. A new website was created with weekly updates and the possibility to directly place orders online.

2004:
In this year Showoff Imports went through it's biggest change yet. The owner, Ronald, finished his education at Technical Businessschool in Tilburg. As his final project Ronald explored the possibilities to change Showoff Imports in a fulltime enterprise. The results were positive and Showoff Imports grew from a small parttime bussiness in internetsales into a proffesional company with the opening of our own showroom/warehouse in Rijen.

For the grand opening a large meeting with many visitors was held. The first staff was hired soon after. Showoff Imports' exclusive democars made fame all around the Netherlands and ended up in various magazines like GR8, Auto&Tuning and Automaxx Magazine.

2005:
With the onlineshop and showroom running smooth it was decided it was time to approach new customers more directly by appearing at many carshows and events. Showoff Imports soon became a regular visitor at many tuningevents and was the first to introduce 'tuningbabes'. Pictures of our promoladies could be found all over the internet.

Interest for our products came from more and more countries in the EU and so it was needed to make the website bilingual. Throughout Europe Showoff Imports got the same fame it allready had in the Netherlands as a reliable supplier for exclusive tuningproducts for japanese cars and shipments went out to all places in the EU.

After a visit to the SEMA-show and some of the suppliers in the USA various high-profile brands were added to the product line-up. A second warehouse was rented to house increasing stocks.

2006:
During this year more and more tuningshops started doing business in the Netherlands/Europe. Unfortunately for the customers this increase in quantity did not always equaled an increase in quality and service people were used to. Showoff Imports found new opportunities in this and expanded it's activities by also supplying those new companies. By now there are many dealers throughout the Netherlands/Europe that sell 'Showoff Qualityproducts' to their customers.

Showoff Imports started producing it's own brand of bodykits in an effort to secure excellent quality. The productrange was cleaned up, older brands were traded for new grade A brands such as Seibon, Megan Racing, Tenzo-R, Auto-R, AITracing, Aerotrenz and Rota. A third warehouse was arranged to store hundreds of bodykits.

2007:
Showoff Imports is increasingly focusing on business-to-business sales. Currently about 60% of all orders are shipped to one of our dealers in the EU. The staff has expanded to 6 people and the Showoff Showteam consists of 15.

Showoff Imports is moved to a new location and the total facility (warehouse, office's, showroom) is now over 2500 m2, making it one of the largest 'import tuning' companies in Europe. At the same time a completely new website is being built, to keep our advantage over our competitors in the field of e-commerce

Various democars have been sold and replaced with newer and even more exclusive cars. Currently the following cars are members off the Showoff Showteam: an Inifiniti G35 (unique in NL), Integra DC5 (only one in NL), Dodge Magnum R/T (only one in NL) and an exclusive Civic EK widebody that has been modified to 101% perfection in any possible way.
